Health Desk – 03 Feb, 2021: The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported 417 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and 23 new deaths.
There have now been 39,960 total cases in the state since the beginning of the outbreak.
The number of Mainers with COVID-19 who have died has increased to 618.
Oxford County reported five new deaths, Aroostook, Cumberland and Penobscot counties each reported four new deaths, York County reported three new deaths, Kennebec County reported two new deaths and Somerset County reported one new death.
The Maine CDC said 21 of Tuesday’s 23 reported deaths occurred between Dec. 21 and Jan 26. The deaths were confirmed through a review of vital records filed in the past two weeks, officials said.
