Health Desk – 06 May,2021: During the coronavirus period, a large number of civil servants, doctors and law enforcement personnel played an significant role. They made great sacrifices for the people of our country as well as the entire world.
On April 15, 2020, Bangladesh saw first death of a physician who was treating COVID-19 patients on the frontlines. So far more than 170 doctors are died in Bangladesh after being exposed to infected patients according to Bangladesh doctors federation (BDF) till now . Also more than 2000 doctors are kept under institutional and home quarantine.
One initiative that should encourage health professionals is the insurance scheme for government employees , including doctors,nurses and law enforcement officials leading the battle against COVID 19, announced by the prime minister . under the scheme ,all frontline responders will be covered at a level between tk 500 thousand to 1 million depending on their rank and increase five -fold in case of death . The prime minister sheikh hasina also said that frontliners will get first priority for vaccination.
2020 was a challenging year for Bangladesh But Bangladesh remained much less affected than others. To achieve sustainable development, the government’s policy and work is appreciable . We all are looking forward to 2021 to be a year full of opportunities and free of this deadly virus.
