Health Desk- 12 July, 2019: The World Population Day was observed in Bangladesh as elsewhere across the globe on Thursday to spread awareness and discuss issues related to population growth.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion.
In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that July 11 be observed by the international community as World Population Day, a day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues, reports UNB.
This year's World Population Day calls for global attention to the unfinished business of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development.
Different organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day across the country.
