Bangladesh applies to all COVID-19 vaccine producers: PM

Health Desk: Sep 10, 2020: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said that the government filed applications with all COVID-19 vaccine producing countries and it had reserved enough funds in this regard.
Sheikh Hasina, also the leader of the Jatiya Sangsad, said this while giving the concluding speech of the 9th session of the 11th parliament.
She said that the government had already allocated necessary funds for purchasing COVID-19 vaccines as it would try to collect those from wherever available to save the country’s people from the epidemic.
The PM came up with the remarks when the global COVID-19 death toll stood at 9,02,141 on Thursday, according to the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Besides, the JHU data showed, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases hit 27,75,6,335 by the time.
The United States remained the worst-hit nation by the pandemic with 6,359,576 cases and 190,796 deaths.
India had become the second worst-hit country by the pandemic as the country’s total caseload reached 4,370,128 with 73,890 fatalities.
Meanwhile, the third worst-hit country, Brazil, had counted 4,197,889 cases and 128,539 deaths. Bangladesh’s COVID-19 death toll surged to 4,593 on Wednesday after the health authorities announced the deaths of 41 more patients.
