Health Desk-- 13th June, 2018: A new study has proved that if anybody wakes up quite frequently or more than 4 to 5 times a night, then it might impact his brain functioning. Waking up in the middle of the night is considered as a normal human behavior. According to experts, even 3 to 4 night-time awakenings are acceptable.
It goes without saying that an interrupted sleep cycle has many negative impacts on our mental as well as physical health. A new research has shown how waking up in the middle of the night is associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
The study was conducted by The University of Illinois, who researched 516 adults between the age of 71 and 78.
In this study, researchers found out that the proteins associated with Alzheimer’s, which are also referred to as biomarkers, were high in the participants who were suffering from respiratory sleep disorders. According to the study, this condition also led to interruption in their sleeping patterns.
