Stern action should be taken against fake facebook doctors: Dr. Sharfuddin Ahmed (With Video)

Special Correspondent: April 29, 2017: The fake doctors also rendering healthcare in Facebook which is undoubtedly a bad signal for the nation. According to the act of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), none can introduce himself as a doctor until he/she completes MBBS/BDS degrees. The council revealed it to media and following that the government enacted a law in this regard.

Those who are not doctor, were given a time board to provide their registration number in their prescription, also they are bound to show it any time. So that it would be easier to verify them whether they are registered doctors.

If no registration is found in favor of them, the concerned authority can take stern action against the fake doctors. Otherwise, any person can fall prey to wrong treatment.

It’s a matter of great sorrow that in disguise of female doctors, several number of fake doctors are rendering treatment in the facebook through the IDs where names of the institutions they passed, are not available in their profile. They upload irrelevant health tips, which are indecent in eye of medical science.  

More supervision is a must in this sector to make healthcare free from anomalies. Still we have shortage of manpower in the health sector.

To a question of the Healthtalk moderator Dr. Apurba Pandit, the BSMMU Pro-Vice Chancellor Sharfuddin Ahmed said these.

He said, ‘If the concerned authority cooperates us, we would take stern action against the criminals and they would be sentenced two years in prison/ fine.
