Desk report, 12 September, 2020: The trial of the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine in India has been suspended for the time being on the instructions of the Drug Controller General of India.
The main pharma applicant for the Oxford vaccine is the international pharma giant AstraZeneca. The company has stopped human clinical trials in various countries after a woman who took part in a clinical trial in Britain fell ill for unknown reasons.
In India, the Pune Serum Institute has been given the responsibility of Oxford Vaccine. They suppressed this information of Estrogen Gene and continued the process of selecting candidates for the clinical trials of Face Two and Face Three. Drug Controller of India, in a letter dated, September 9, VG Somani not only protested to the Serum Institute, but also stated that the Serum Institute would no longer be able to conduct trials of the Oxford vaccine in India until AstraZeneca resumes clinical trials around the world. The Pune firm also announced that their trial was closed.
