Drive against drug continued across Ctg

Health Desk-- 22 May, 2018: Police and officials of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) Monday arrested five drug peddlers with 28,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in separate drives from the port city and Chittagong.

The arrestees were identified as Foysal Ahmed, 20, Al Amin, 20, Mizanur Rahman, 30, Md Giasuddin, 25, and Md Kawser, 30,

Sources said a team of police carried out a drive in Thanar Morr area under the upazila at around 2:30am and signalled a truck.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the truck driver Foysal and helper Abul Hashem tried to flee leaving the truck.

Police, however, caught Faysal after a chase and recovered 15,000 pieces of Yaba tablets kept tactfully inside the truck.

Besides, police also arrested Al Amin from a Chattogram-bound bus and recovered 3,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from his possession from Kharna Raster Matha under the upazila at around 12:20am.

On the other hand, officials of DNC arrested Mizanur, Giasuddin and Kawser with 10,000 pieces of the deadly drug Yaba from the city’s Reazuddin Bazar area at around 1:30pm, said the DNC Metro Sub Zone Deputy Director Shamim Ahmed.

Meanwhile, the Department of Narcotic Control (DNC) in special drives across the city has arrested 68 suspected drug peddlers along with a huge quantity of illegal drugs, including 88,386 pieces of contraband yaba tablets.
