Health Desk—November 03, 2017: As much as 39 percent children of the country are suffering from worm infection, said, government officials at a meeting in the capital’s Health Services Auditorium on Wednesday.
A worm infected child cannot do well in school. It is possible to prevent thru regular medication and following rules of hygiene. Media can play a greater role in this respect.
The event was organised by the Directorate General of Health Services on the occasion of National De-worming Week.
In the week beginning from 4 November, all the school going children will receive the de-worming tablets.
Speaking on the occasion, Directorate General of Health Services director general Abul Kalam Azad said, “This year the de-worming tablets are completely safe. It’s WHO standard.”
The meeting was told that children aged from 5 to 12 will receive de-worming tablets at primary schools across the country from 4 to 9 November and children aged 12 to 16 will get the tablets at secondary schools from 16 to 23 November.
