Health Desk-- Oct 16, 2017: Women activists at a discussion in Rangpur have lauded the success already achieved by Bangladesh in ensuring equal rights of the girl child on way to attain the sustainable national development goals (SDGs).
They made the observation at the discussion followed by prize distribution and cultural function arranged at Shilpokola Academy auditorium on Sunday afternoon in observance of the National Girl Child Day- 2017.
The District Shilpokola Academy with assistance of district administration, Jatiya Mohila Sangstha and District Mohila Sports Association organised the programmes.
President of District Mohila Sports Association Sultana Pervin attended the function and distributed prizes among winners of different competitions as chief guest with Additional District Magistrate Abu Rafa Md Arif in the chair.
Chairman of Rangpur unit of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Rosy Rahman, General Secretary of Divisional Mohila Sports Association Latifa Shawkat and Executive Magistrate Chhonda Paul addressed as special guests.
The speakers said Bangladesh has achieved laudable success in ensuring education, health care, equal rights, safety and security of the girl child, stopping early marriage and violence against children on way to achieve the SDGs.
