Health Desk: Dec 15, 2016: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was established on December 11, 1946, to help affected children after World War II. Today, this organization reaches out to children across the globe.
Seventy years for children: Aftermath of WWll, the UNICEF was established at UN’s General Assembly to help the vulnerable children of Europe. At that time, severe panic over health and food was running and still continued. According to a statistic of UN in 2015, a total of about 3 million children are severely suffering from malnutrition.
Continuous effort for child development: One of the UN's most well-known agencies extends its works in more than 90 countries around the world by 1955. Malaria was then and is now one of the reasons behind child mortality. Since then, UNICEF has been playing an important role to save children from deadly disease malaria.
Child right: UNICEF approves a declaration to ensure security, education, health, rehabilitation and nutrition for underprivileged children across the globe.
Awarded with Nobel Peace Prize: Nineteen years after its founding, UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965 for promoting brotherhood among the nations.
Water, sanitation and hygiene: UNICEF for the first time in 1953 launched its programme- water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) - to improve water and sanitation services, as well as basic hygiene practices. So far, the world class organization has ensured pure water and good sanitation system for a total of about 3 billion people across the globe.
Shelter for vulnerable children: UNICEF has ensured right of education for millions of children worldwide. Moreover, since 1990, this organization has dropped number of children deprived of education by 40 percent.
Crisis and Emergency Period: A total of 535 million children are victims of natural calamities across the world. According to UNICEF, nearly, 50 million child refugees are leading very measurable life globally.
Everything for Children: Youngsters have written the Italian word ‘constaruar’, means ‘Building up’. They think it’s time to build high valued and established nation. According to the statistics of UNICEF, under the poverty line, 2.6 million children are living in the developed countries around the world.
On the way to bright future: UNICEF responds to the humanitarian calls for the tortured and deprived children. The next 70 year- goal of this UN’s organization is to build a world where UNICEF will no longer be required.
