Health Desk: 14 April 2018: People all over the country celebrate Pahela Baishakh with colors, cultural programs and with plenty of deshi foods. Though this day is a full of fun and festivities, it can wreak havoc on your body. So, here are some tips to help you stay fit and healthy while away from home on the occasion of New Year.

1. Sweat is usually the biggest challenge people face during this period. Freeze some green tea in an ice cube tray overnight. In the morning, rub the green tea ice cubes on your face and neck. Gently dry your skin with a clean, soft towel, then start your day with a happy smile.

2. For your feet, mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda in a small bowl of cold water. Soak your feet in the water for five minutes. Pat dry and sprinkle on some talcum powder.

4. Keep some extra bobby pins, clips and safety pins in your purse for the emergency fixing of your hair, clothes and sarees.

5. Keep a small bottle of rose water in your purse. Spray a little on your skin whenever it feels a little tired and tight. This will give it a boost of instant freshness.

6. Prevent sun damage to your skin and hair by carrying a foldable umbrella with you. Keep in the shade, especially from 11AM to 4PM.

7. Drink coconut water or cold water to cool down instead of unhealthy sodas and ice-creams. These may provide you with instant gratification but will make you feel much worse in the long run.

8. We know it’s almost impossible to skip those delicious deshi foods but try and stay away from the heavier spicy dishes such as spicy beef, Bhuna khichuri etc.

9. Avoid bad breath with sugar free mints and chewing gum.

10.Keep a bottle of body mist or a body spray inside your purse to keep bad body odours away.

11. At the end of the day, remove every trace of makeup from skin using a cleanser.

12. Loose-fitting clothing is preferable. Cotton or light fabrics like linen is a good option. Such materials let the body sweat, yet keep it cool and airy. Cotton clothing will keep you cooler than many synthetics.
