Health Desk-01 Sep, 2019: The number of new dengue cases continues to decrease across the country though the magnitude of this year’s dengue outbreak crossed all previous records.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 760 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in the past 24 hours till 8:00 am on Saturday — 349 in Dhaka city and 411 outside the capital.
A total of 1,025 dengue patients were hospitalised on Friday. The IEDCR received reports of 185 suspected deaths caused by dengue across the country but 57 deaths have been confirmed so far after reviewing 96 cases.
The health directorate said a total of 40,693 patients were admitted to private and public hospitals in Dhaka city till Saturday this year. Some 29,502 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in districts across the country outside Dhaka city during the same time.
