Health Desk--3 August, 2018: Combined Military Hospital (CMH) has conducted a successful kidney transplantations of two patients in laparoscopic method in the capital for the first time.
According to a press release from Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate, India’s Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) Kidney Transplant Surgeon Dr. Pranjal Rohon Lal Modi led the operation.
Though only the members of armed forces are getting this medical facility currently, there is a plan to open the facility for the civil people in future, the release added.
Among others, a seven-member Indian specialists’ team, urologist of Dhaka CMH Brigadier General Md Shahidul Islam and kidney transplant specialists of Dhaka CMH and AFIP took part in the operation.
Kidney transplant centre started its activities at Dhaka CMH as per Prime Minister’s pledge to provide health facility to all classes of people with overall assistance of Army Chief.
Nearly 30,000 to 40,000 kidney patients are adding every year in Bangladesh. About 80% of these patients are dying for lack of proper treatment.
