Health Desk: 01 March, 2018: Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) is launching a campaign against drugs from Thursday to protect the next generation from the threat, its Director General Jamal Uddin Ahmed said.
As per the strategy, all TV channels and radios will telecast the slogans “love life, stay away from drugs” (Jibon ke bhalobashun, madok theke dure thakun) at 8:50pm on the same day, he said.
The campaign was decided on Wednesday in an inter-ministry meeting with State Minister for Information Tarana Halim in the chair, he said while speaking at a press conference at DNC headquarters, Dhaka.
He said, DNC officials conducted 39,585 drives against drug traders across the country last year to reduce drug supply and arrested 12,651 drug offenders.
A total of 11,612 cases have been filed against the arrested 12,651 criminals, said Jamal Uddin.
Nearly 25,355 patients have been given treatment from 213 centers, including four of the DNC, for rehabilitation of drug addicts last year, he added.
