Health Desk—November 09, 2017: Aiming to raise awareness against drugs, Chandpur police administration has taken a unique and noble initiative to arrange 1,200 football matches in the district.

As part of a marathon competition, 600 matches have already been played amid huge enthusiasm among people.

Describing the reason behind the initiative, Police Super Samsunnahar said they could not achieve cent percent success in curbing drug abuse through carrying out only anti-narcotics drives. "We want to divert people's attention to good deeds," she said.

Beginning at the ward level, the football competition has now entered the inter-union level, the SP said, adding that it will end at the district level.

Describing the football tournament as part of this effort, Samsunnahar said she is happy with the success achieved so far.
