‘Plant more fruit trees to meet demand of nutrition’

Health Desk-- 21 June, 2018: With an aim to meet the demand of food and nutrition, President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday called upon all to plant more fruit trees across the country.

They made the call in separate messages on the occasion of ‘National Fruit Tree Planting Fortnight’ from June 22 to July 6 and ‘National Fruit Exhibition’ from June 22 to 24.

In his message, President Abdul Hamid said fruit is one of the major sources of nutrition.

It will help meet the demand of nutrition, create employment opportunity and further contribute to the economy, he added.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the fruits and fruit bearing trees have been meeting the demand of food and nutrients and shelter since long.

She urged all to plant more native fruit trees to ensure availability of fruits round the year.

They also wished all-out success of the programmes of ‘National Fruit Tree Planting Fortnight’ and National Fruit Exhibition-2018.
