Heavy rains to enhance landslide risk in Ctg, Sylhet

Health Desk-- 15th June, 2018: Heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Chittagong and Sylhet divisions that may create landslide and flash flood worsening the situation in the area.

Muhammad Arif Hossain, a meteorologist at BMD, told the journalists, “Because of heavy rainfall, landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions”.

According to Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, the Surma at Kanaighat and Sylhet points, the Kushiyara at Amalshid, Sheola and Sherpur-Sylhet points, the Sarigowain at Sarighat point, the Manu at Manu Railway Bridge and Mouvibazar, the Khowai at Ballah and Habiganj points are flowing above danger level on Thursday.

The ongoing light to moderate rainfall across the country is likely to continue as southwest monsoon has set in the southwestern parts of the country, according to BMD.
