Social movement against tobacco should be launched

Health Desk-- 1 June, 2018: Experts and physicians at a discussion on Thursday emphasised the need for raising social awareness against tobacco to save the nation from the bad habit of smoking.

They made the call while speaking at a discussion tilted ‘Tobacco and Cardiac Diseases’ at Bashundhara Ad-din Medical College (BAMC) at Keraniganj, an outskirt of the capital, to mark the World Anti-tobacco Day.

Speakers also claimed that the rate of smoking didn’t reduce although the usage of tobacco products has been declined in the country.

BAMC Principle Prof Abu Ubaid Muhammad Muhsin was present at the event as the chief guest while Prof Shameema Suraiya Begum of Community Medicine Department of the college presided over it.

Medicine Department Associate Prof Sanjoy Kumar Saha presented a keynote paper.
