Regulations need to stop mercury use in dental treatment

Health Desk-- 28 May, 2018: Speakers on Sunday urged the government to amend regulations to stop mercury amalgam in dental practices as early as possible.

They came up with the remarks at an open forum titled “Phase Out Dental Amalgam Use in Bangladesh and Regulation for Ban” organised by Environment and Social development Organisation-ESDO along with Bangladesh Dental Society-BDS at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in the city.

Environment Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud was present at the event where he inaugurated a new monograph titled “Mercury-Free Dentistry towards Toxic-Free Oral Health and Environment” which was the pre-eminent section of the open forum.

Former secretary Syed Marghub Murshed, Executive director of ESDO Siddika Sultana, assembled at the event.
