Health Desk: 10 January 2018: The local government in Indian capital Delhi has issued an advisory with regard to prevention of seasonal influenza swine flu, officials said Wednesday.

Swine flu is also a type of seasonal influenza and is a self- limiting viral disease, in its advisory, the government said.

As per advisory publicised through state media in case of mild fever with sore throat with or without body ache, headache, diarrhoea and vomiting, the patient neither requires oseltamivir nor testing.

In case of high grade fever and severe sore throat or patients showing with one or more high risk conditions oseltamivir medicine is required but testing is not required.

Patients having symptoms of breathlessness, chest pain, drowsiness, fall in blood pressure, or emitting sputum mixed with blood then they should be admitted in hospitals, the advisory said. As per official figures swine flu claimed 12 lives and affected 2,835 people in Delhi in 2017, it added.

Mentionable, swine flu is a respiratory disease caused by a strain of the influenza type A virus, H1N1.
