Health Desk--- September 11, 2016: With an aim to make the capital city pollution free and to minimize the risk of animal waste borne diseases, the two city corporations - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have designated a total of 1,152 places for sacrificing animals in the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
A total of 648 out of 1152 were selected for DNCC. In separate statements, mayors of DNCC and DSCC urged the urban people to slaughter their sacrificial animals in the designated places so the corporations could manage the waste easily and timely.
At the designated places, people will be provided with some necessary supports for slaughtering their sacrificial animals safely and maintaining hygiene. These would include skilled butchers, water supplies and rubbish bags.
According to an official statement, both the corporations will also deploy 6205 additional cleaning staff, along with their regular ones. Among the additional cleaning staff, DSCC will add 5200 to its regular 2100 while DNCC will deploy additional 1005 along with the regular 2225.
The city corporations will also engage waste carrying trucks equipped with modern equipment, the sources said.
To add, the two city corporations will open temporary control rooms for managing cleaning operation smoothly. The DSCC control room has introduced a cell number 95556014 and DNCC 9856709 and 9858006 so that people can reach them easily.
