Health Desk June 01, 2020: Mask use is now compulsory outdoors and in public gatherings, according to a circular issued by the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday.
There is a fine of up to Tk 1 lakh or six-month jail term or both for anyone caught outdoors without one.
The offenders will be sued under sections 24 and 25 of the Communicable Diseases (Prevention, Control and Eradication) Act 2018, said the circular signed by Additional Director General Prof Nasima Sultana.
The administration and other authorities concerned will "carefully" enforce the orders to combat the spread of coronavirus, it added.
The ban remains on movement of people from 8:00pm to 6:00am unless there is an emergency, it said.
Essential shopping, commuting to and from work, buying drugs, health needs and burials are exempt from the restrictions.
