Health Desk- Feb 06, 2019: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Tuesday said institutional delivery will have to be increased to reduce mother and child death rate.
“As per target of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), institutional delivery rate will have to be increased to reduce maternal mortality ratio. Currently the ratio is not hopeful,” he said.
The health minister came up with the statement while addressing a view exchange programme with officials of the Directorate General of Family Planning Bangladesh (DGFP) at Secretariat in the city.
Zahid Maleque asked the authorities concerned to involve local peoples’ representative, teachers and religion society to create awareness in the areas where the birth ratio is high.
He emphasized on taking step targeting Sylhet and Chittagong regions with special importance.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Murad Hassan, Health Services Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary GM Saleh Uddin and DGFP Director Generals Kazi Mustafa Sarwar were present among others.
