Health Desk--October 4, 2018: Nurses of gynecology ward of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) observed a three-hour work abstention protesting alleged slap by a physician to a nurse on Wednesday.
The sudden work abstention caused sufferings to the patients at the ward.
Sources said two nurses pulled clothes of a female patient up to her chest at the ward at around 8:30am.
Noticing this, physician Dr Shahena Akter gave nurse Banani Rani a push and rebuked her for objectionable task in presence of other physicians, interns, nurses and attendants.
However, CMCH Diploma Nurses’ Association General Secretary Tapan Dey claimed that Banani was slapped by the physician.
The nurses, however, returned to work after a meeting with the hospital authority at around 12:00 noon.
CMCH Director Brigadier General Mohsen Uddin Ahmed in this connection said that they officially received a complaint in this connection.
