World Heart Day observed

No icon Country wide health

Health Desk--30 Sep’18: World Heart Day 2018 was observed on Saturday in a befitting manner at different places across the country including the Dhaka city with emphasising on taking care of heart to stay well.

Different hospitals and cardiology departments observed the day with various programmes while Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and National Heart Foundation (NHF) arranged programmes to mark the day in the capital in the day.

The Foundation brought out a cycle rally from Mirpur Cricket Stadium and ended it on the National Heart Foundation Hospital premises in the morning.        

National Professor Brig (retd) Abdul Malik, founder of the NHF, inaugurated the programmes thorough releasing balloons. Then a seminar was arranged at the hospital auditorium.

Speaking at the seminar, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim said the government is determined to stop smoking which the vital reason behind the heart diseases.

He urged the people to avoid unhealthy lifestyle and foods to decrease the burden of the NCDs.

On the occasion, Cardiology department of the BSMMU, its Alumni Association of Cardiology and the BSMMU jointly brought out a colourful rally titled ‘My Heart Your Heart’ on the university premises on Saturday.
