Social movement against drugs stressed

Health Desk-- 23 June, 2018: Speakers at a function in Gaibandha on Thursday underscored the need for building social resistance against narcotics and creating much awareness among people about the bad effects of drugs to build a drug free developed society, reports BSS.

They came up with the observations while addressing an anti narcotic mass awareness meeting organized by Shantiram Union Parishad (UP) under Sundarganj upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.

The speakers said, “It was not possible for any individual, group, department or the government to contain the drug abuse until the social movement shouldn’t be forged against it and the initiative have to start from the family and the society”.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal addressed the meeting as the chief guest while acting UNO assistant commissioner (Land) Abu Bakkar Siddique was present as the special guest.

Besides, a large number of people including the youths, public representatives, local elite including media personalities attended the function.
