Health Desk: 05 Jan’18: A woman of Chukuria village under Tangail’s Mirjapur upazila gave birth to four babies in upazila’s Kumudini hospital on Thursday. Of the four newborn babies, one died shortly afterwards.
The woman was identified as Taslima, wife of one Farid Mia, was admitted to Kumudini hospital’s Maternity Department after she went into labour on Wednesday afternoon, according to the family sources. On the next day, she gave birth to the first baby in normal delivery around noon and three more later in the evening. One of the newborns died shortly after delivery, the sources added.
Mentionable, Taslima’s poor family fell in financial trouble following the birth of the babies. The newborns are not in good health and her family is gravely worried about the coming days.
Kumudini hospital director Dr Dulal Chanda Poddar said the babies are small in size and less weighted. They need extra care for survival.
However, they have been kept in the incubator and hospital authority is trying their best to keep them alive, he said.
