Health Desk—October 05, 2017: A Chittagong mobile court on Wednesday fined Care Point Hospital at Nazirhat under Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong Tk 5,000 for defying some clauses of its licence.
During the drive, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Dipak Kumar Roy found that the clinic has some 25 beds even though it was allowed to have only 10 beds. Besides, the interior was scruffy, the UNO said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Somaya Afrin lodged a complaint with Dipak accusing a duty doctor, nurses and cleaners of the hospital of being negligent which resulted in the death of her baby during childbirth.
The UN said, “I will write to the directorate general of health services to probe the matter regarding the licence violation and also write to the upazila health and family planning officer to form a probe body to investigate the allegation and take necessary step accordingly.“
Meanwhile, another mobile court fined Cosmopolitan Hospital on the port city's Chatteswari road, and Human Pathology and Diagnosis Centre in Halishahar a total of Tk 5.05 lakh for using expired injections and drugs, and keeping operation room unclean and unhygienic.
Three persons were detained during the drive. The team also found meat and fish packets which were stored with blood bags in the same refrigerator of the hospital. On the other hand, the pathology centre had fake technicians and expired reagent.
