Special Correspondent—April 07, 2017: With the slogan 'Depression: let’s talk', amarhealth.com organized an event in the capital’s Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Auditorium on Friday (7th April).
Different programs including, seminar, discussion, show-debate, cultural program etc. were held on the occasion.
In the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Syed Modasser Ali, former health adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said that mental disease can attack a person if he possess a mind. Besides, due to other physical or mental problems, a person can suffer from this disease.
Dr. Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), also the chief guest of the program, said there is no way to be depressed rather we should gain happy. Loving our beloved Bangabandhu, we should be enlightened with the light of independence. Moreover, depressed persons should see a psychiatric if the diseases turns to severity.
Professor Dr. Kamrul Hasan Khan, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Prof. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) of BSMMU, Professor Dr. Mohit Kamal, National Institute of Mental Health & Research (NIMH&R) and Pijush Bandyopadhyay, former managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), among others, spoke in the programe as special guests.
Dr. MD: Zillur Rahman Khan, Assistant Professor of NIMH&R presented a note paper on mental health with Dr. Apurba Pandit, Editor of amarhealth.com, in the chair.
Soon after the speech of speakers, Led by Mohinee Prithula, editor of the page ‘Kids Corner’ of amarhealth.com, a show-debate was held titled on ‘Only lack of public awareness is the obstacle to treatment for mental diseases’.
The program came to the end through a colorful cultural event.
