Health Desk---May 17, 2016: The young generations must be saved from the wrath of drug abuse and addiction along with rooting out of militancy for continuation of smooth development in building a happy and prosperous nation.
The views were expressed at an anti-drug views-sharing meeting organised by Ward No-18 unit of Community Policing at its office in Munshipara area of the city on Monday night.
The event was arranged for creating mass awareness among the common people about severe consequences of drug abuse and drug addiction to save the youths from ruining their future and rooting out militancy.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana ABM Zahidul Islam attended the occasion as the chief guest with President of Ward No-18 unit of Community Policing Dr Meskatur Rahman in the chair.
Member Secretary of the divisional and Rangpur district units of Community Policing Shushanto Bhowmick addressed the event as the special guest.
City Councilor Jafrin Islam Ripa, Community Policing Officer of Kotwali Thana Sub-inspector Muhibbul Islam, Joint Convener of city unit of Community Policing Arif Hossain Tito, its Organising Secretary Abdul Kader Didar addressed, among others.
In his speech, Shushanto Bhowmick discussed about the grievous impacts of drug abuse and militancy and put importance on mass public awareness against drug for building a society free from drug, militancy and terrorism.
He said the young generations as well as the society must be saved from the wrath of drug abuse and militancy for improving the worsening situation and removing barriers for their normal growth and flourishing talents in becoming worthy citizens.
The chief guest said the conscious citizen should come forward along with members of the Community Policing in sensitising the young generations as well as parents about catastrophic consequences of generation-killer drug aggression and militancy.
"The society must be freed from the real threat of drug abuse and militancy through strengthening activities of the community policing involving the common citizens for maintaining the current pace of uplift in building a developed nation," he said.
