Health Desk-20 August, 2019: Some 88 percent dengue patients have gone home from hospitals after recovering from dengue fever as the number of new cases registered a fall, officials said on Monday.
The Health Directorate said the information was based on their data suggesting that 48,024 dengue patients were released from hospitals across the country till August 19.
Addressing a press conference at DGHS headquarters in the capital on the same day, Sanya Tahmina, also the line director of Communicable Disease Control Unit of the health directorate, said: “We are observing that the number of new dengue cases is going down every day. We hope the number will not increase further.”
According to the data of the DGHS, 1,615 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in the past 24 hours from 8:00 am on Sunday till 8:00 am on Monday. Some 757 were infected in dengue in Dhaka city and 858 outside Dhaka in the past 24 hours.
Some 1,706 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals on August 18; 1460 on August 17; 1721 on August 16; 1933 on August 15; 1882 on August 14 and 1201 dengue patients were admitted to hospital on August 13.
A total of 33,524 patients were admitted to private and public hospitals in Dhaka till Monday this year. Some 21,273 patients were admitted to district-level hospitals across the country during the same time.
However, according to the media reports, around 60,000 people were hospitalised and over 100 of them died of dengue this year.
