Health Desk-19 May, 2019: The non-cadre doctors of the 39th special BCS have demanded to include them in the cadre services.
They made the demand at a human chain and demonstration programme in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday.
The demonstrators said they have taken to street as the worthy candidates have been deprived for lack of necessary posts.
The PSC recently published the result of 39th special BCS for doctors recommending appointment to 4,792 doctors in the cadre services.
The PSC also recommended 8,360 doctors, who also passed the examinations, for non-cadre services.
Health minister Zahid Maleque said on Thursday that the 4,792 doctors were appointed as per the prime minister’s directives to recruit 10,000 doctors.
He said rest of the doctors would be recruited gradually, more likely by 2020.
The non-cadre doctors at the sit-in sought the prime minister’s attention to provide them cadre services.
‘We want to go to villages if you appoint us in upazila health complexes and community clinics,’ said Devasish Dev, one of the organizers of the sit-in.
‘Everyone says there is shortage of doctors in the country but we are now told by the PSC that there is not enough posts for doctors,’ he said.
Devasish said they want to meet prime minister Sheikh Hasina to place their demand.
