Health Desk--11 Sep’18: State Minster for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder on Monday said ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day we have to make promise that we won’t kill ourselves and we will think for our society.
The state minister came up with the remark joining a “Run for Life” suicide preventive awareness programme at the base of Aparajeyo Bangla of Dhaka University.
During the programme, the speakers underscored the putting importance on mental health to prevent suicide and observing the day nationally.
Bright Tomorrow Foundation (BTF) and The Great Bangladesh Run (GBR) jointly arranged the programme.
Former DU VC AAMS Arefin Siddique, popular singer Samina Chowdhury, the first Bangladeshi woman Mount Everest mountaineer Nishat Majumder, national cricket team player Taskin Ahmed and associate professor of national institute of mental health Dr Helal Uddin spoke on the occasion, among others.
