World Breastfeeding Day observed at IU

Health Desk-- Aug 08, 2017: Teachers and students of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia, on Monday observed the World Breastfeeding Day on the campus on Monday.

Applied Nutrition and Food Technology Department of the university organised the programme with the slogan “Let’s unite to make breastfeeding durable”. 

Marking the day, the department brought out a rally with banners and festoons from in front of Applied Science and Technology Faculty building.

After parading main thoroughfares of the university, the rally ended at the same place where a brief discussion was held.

Prof Dr Abdus Samad, Associate Professor Dr ATM Mizanur Rahman and Assistant Professor Sheikh Shahinur Rahman of the department, among others, took part at the programme.

Meanwhile, an international seminar titled “Discussion on Rabindranath Tagore” was held at the university’s Faculty Building on the day to mark the 77th death anniversary of Rabindranath.

Bangla Department of the university organised the seminar.

Prof Dr M Habibur Rahman, dean of Humanities and Social Science Faculty, was present at the seminar as the chief guest while Prof Dr M Sarower Morshed of the department attended the seminar as the special guest with Prof Dr Goutam Kumar Das, chairman of the department, in the chair.   

Dr Jyostna Chattopadhay, professor of Bangla Department of Rabindra Bharati University in India, spoke as the chief discussant while Tapon Kumer Ray, assistant professor of the department, conducted the seminar.
