Health Desk-4 September, 2019: A nationwide campaign has begun to raise awareness among citizens to follow the practices of cleanliness and hygiene for good health.
Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh and Bangladesh Scouts jointly organised the campaign starting from Tuesday. It will continue till October 19. Md Shah Kamal, disaster management and relief secretary and national commissioner for social development and health, inaugurated the programme at the central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday.
Scouts and others stood in queue carrying pledge boards and banners displaying cleanliness tips and slogan.
The campaigners urged people to dump waste materials in specific place, educate children on cleanliness, help make their life healthy and clean, wash hands before meal, and keep toilet clean and sanitised.
The campaigners urged the pedestrians to use footbridge and zebra crossing while crossing road.
Later, the campaign took place in Kakrail, Nilkhet, Shahbag and TSC areas. The campaign will run in 25 areas of Dhaka, two of Gopalganj and three of Chandpur.
Speaking on the occasion, Md Shah Kamal read out a written statement of State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman who could not attend the programme on account of illness.
