Health Desk-14 June, 2019: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed an allocation of Tk 25,733 crore for health sector in 2019-20 fiscal year, saying that the government has been working with dedication and sincerity to develop a healthy and energetic population by ensuring quality health services, nutrition, affordable and quality family planning.
“I propose to allocate Tk 25,733 crore for the Health Services Division, and the Health Education and Family Welfare Division, which was Tk 22,336 crore in FY 2018-19,” he said in the budget speech on Thursday.
Besides, he proposed Tk 3,732 crore allocation for health programmes which will be run by 12 other ministries and divisions.
The minister said, “Currently, 12 ministries and divisions are implementing programmes related to health and family welfare. The allocation for this purpose in FY 2019-20 is Tk 29,464 crore, which is 1.02 percent of GDP and 5.63 percent of total budget allocations.”
The total budget for Health Services Division is Tk 19,945 crore while Tk 5,788 crore for Medical Education and Family Welfare Division.
