Health Desk-- 12th June, 2018: Civil Society members at a workshop in the capital called on Monday for establishing special tribunal at seven divisions in the country for speedy disposal of child trafficking related cases.
They said such cases are now conducted by women and child repression prevention courts, which are already overburdened by other cases. Thus, it is hindering the child trafficking cases for which the victims are being deprived of justice.
The speakers said these while addressing a workshop aimed at determining a strategy for prevention of child trafficking at YWCA Centre at Mohammadpur in the capital.
Aiming to ensure the child rights, they called for taking measures such as executing the law, child protection, effective utilization of mass media, sensitizing law enforcing agencies and creating awareness among people.
AKM Masud Ali, executive director of INCIDIN Bangladesh and Chair of Action against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children (ATSEC) chaired the programe while Firozul Islam, senior manager of Save the Children, Roksana Sultana, executive director of Breaking the Silence, Advocate Rafiqul Islam Khan, PCTSCN Coordinator (INCIDIN Bangladesh), among others spoke at the function.
