Free health camp on Chikungunya held in Dhaka

Special Correspondent- August 11, 2017: A free health camp and awareness program on Chikungunya in the capital’s Dhupkhola City Corporation Playground under Gendaria Upazila on Friday.

According to our correspondent, General Secretary of Genderia Thana Awami League Leakat Ali Shipon organized the free health camp where about 50 patients received healthcare as well as knowledge about the spread of Chikungunya from the four-hour long camp for free.

Leaflets for building awareness on Chikungunya was distributed among the patients and their attendants on how to get rid of this disease and alleviate pain easily. 

Health Expert Dr. Apurba Pandit, who rendered sincere treatment among the patients, told amarhealth, “Most of the patients came to the camp with severe pelvic pain and weakness. So, we tried to alleviate their sufferings.”

‘In spite of having less possibilities to be infected with Chikungunya for the second time, we found 3 patients who have been infected twice. Notable, among the 50 plus patients, only one patient diagnosed and confirmed that he was Chikungunya positive, though all medical equipment was available in the camp, this noted physician added.

To a question, Dr. Apurba Pandit said that free medicines were also distributed among the poor section of patients in the camp.
