Bangla VersionHealth Desk-- May 9, 2017: Former US president Barack Obama urged lawmakers to follow their conscience and protect vulnerable Americans, as a Republican-backed bill that tore up his namesake health care reform law heads to the Senate.
He explained, “Courage means not simply doing what is politically expedient, but doing what they believe deep in their hearts is right.”
Obama said these while speaking in Boston on Sunday night during receiving a Profile in Courage Award from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
“It is my fervent hope… that today’s members of Congress, regardless of party, are willing to look at the facts and speak the truth even when it contradicts party positions.
