Health Desk- 30 August 2020: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University opened a post-COVID Follow-Up Clinic on Saturday morning for long time follow up of the COVID-19 patients who were released from the hospital after recovery.
BSMMU vice-chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua inaugurated the clinic at Outdoor-1 building where cured patients will get follow up check-up service from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the internal medicine outdoor.
BSMMU experts said that a COVID-19 patient needs to be followed up for about five years, said a press release.
BSMMU pro-vice-chancellor (research and development) Md Zahid Hossain, pro-vice-chancellor (administration) Muhammad Rafiqul Alam, registrar Professor ABM Abdul Hannan, proctor Syed Mozaffar Ahmed, internal medicine department chairman Sohel Mahmud Arafat and hospital director brigadier general Md Zulfiquer Ahmed Amin, among others, were present on the occasion.
Oxford University and Imperial College, London provided technical support for the clinic. The clinic is part of the COVID-19 Global Follow up Consortium.
