Health Desk: 1st Nov’18: Speakers in a free healthcare campaign in the capital highlighted the importance of bringing the stroke-affected patients in the stroke centre within 3 hours to 4.5 hours to have the stroke-busting Alteplase therapy, to save from life threatening disability.
They came up with the call while addressing a free healthcare campaign marking the World Stroke Day 2018 with the theme of “Up again after Stroke” in the capital.
The United Hospital Limited organized the campaign to mark the day in a befitting manner.
According to a press release, Md Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, inaugurated a free health checkup booth at the hospital lobby.
Around 450 patients and their family members received free treatment throughout the day. Consultant of Neuroscience Department Dr Syed Sayed Ahmed, Dr SM Hasan Shahriar, Prof Dr (Col) Mohd Mozibor Rahman and Prof Dr Brig Gen (retd) HM Shafiqul Alam were present in the event, among other hospital doctors and nurses.
Dr Shagufa Anwar, Chief of Communication and Business Development of the hospital, reiterated the need to do stroke screening, especially for those who have family history of stroke.
