55,222 patients received treatment at icddr,b in three months

Health Desk--3 August, 2018: A total of 55,222 diarrhea patients received treatment at International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) in between March and May this year.

A report of the icddr,b on on Thursday  said, “In Dhaka, a diarrhoeal outbreak spread rapidly.  The icddr,b received an unprecedented number of 55,222 diarrhoeal patients from March to May in 2018”. The report was disclosed by the icddr,b at a programme at its Mohakhali headquarters in the capital.

Speaking at the programme, Serajul Huq Khan, Secretary, Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, appreciated the efforts made by the icddr,b.

Speaking on the occasion, John D Clemens, Executive Director at icddr,b, thanked all the staff members who have shown commitment, confidence and compassion while delivering services to protect the FDMN (Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals) population in Cox’s Bazar and during the outbreak in Dhaka.

The icddr,b report also said it continues to lead the fight against cholera by mass vaccination and through treating diarrhoeal disease across the globe.
