Bangla VersionHealth Desk-- July 20, 2016: State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek on Tuesday said teenage-friendly corner would be established at all health centers in the country.
He told a press conference at his ministry meeting room on the eve of observing World Population Day.
Like other counties, Bangladesh used to observe the day on July 11. But it was decided to observe day in Bangladesh on July 21 instead of July 11 because of Eid-ul-Fitr.
This year's theme of the day is "Investing in teenage girls".
The state minister said the government is aiming to create educated mothers so that the rate of maternal and child mortality would reduce as well as population would be controlled.
He said teenage-friendly corners have already been set up at 100 health centers for the sake of providing proper healthcare to teenagers and by phases such corners would be established at all centers.
Health Secretary Syed Manjurul Islam, Additional Secretary of Health Ministry Biman Kumar Saha, Director General of Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) Wahid Hossain and Additional Director General of DGFP Abul Kalam Azad were present, among others, on the occasion.
