Bangla VersionHealth Desk- 30 Sep, 2019: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) decided to visit Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH) soon as the commission has launched an inquiry into huge corruption in procuring medical appliances, curtains, bed sheets and other materials by FMCH.
According to ACC officials the commission deputy director M Samsul Islam already sent a letter to the FMCH asking to provide different documents including tender process.
They said that the commission initiated the inquiry on September 12.
Recently media exposed the corruption in procuring medical appliances, curtains, bed sheets and other materials by the medical college hospital.
It showed that each curtain used bedside screen cost an amazing amount of Tk 37.50 lakh.
The Directorate General of Health Services was astonished over the medical college submitting inflated bills to the tune of Tk 41 crore for buying oxygen generating plant, vacuum cleaners, blood pressure digital machines and curtains.
Earlier, on August 20, the High Court had directed the ACC to investigate the alleged corruption in FMCH and submit a report within six months.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader came up with the order in response to a writ petition filed by MS Onik Traders against DHS for withholding a payment of Tk 10 crore.
