Dodgy doctors to face action: Health Minister

Health Desk- Feb 13, 2019: Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque said on Tuesday that action will be taken against the health providers if they do not stay at their places of work.

Zahid Maleque said, “Medical education in private medical colleges will have to be improved and the government has given due attention to fill up the vacant posts of teachers of basic sciences in medical colleges.”

The health minister was speaking at a seminar titled ‘Sustainable Development Goal (SDG); To Do in Health Sector of Bangladesh’ arranged by Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) at its auditorium in the capital. BMA president Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin presided over the seminar.

“The person who needs to stay at his/her place of work for providing healthcare service to people, he/she must have to stay there. Otherwise, action will be taken against the guilty person as per law,” he warned.

Speaking at the seminar, state Minister for health and family welfare Dr Murad Hassan said that they would suddenly visit different hospitals at upazila, district and division levels to inspect the condition of health services at the respective hospitals.
