Narcotics Control official held for taking bribe

Health Desk: 03 January 2018: The Anti-Corruption Commission detained an official of the Directorate of Narcotics Control (DNC) for allegedly taking bribe amounting to Tk 200,000 on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The narcotics control official is Nazmul Kabir and serving as a deputy director of Jessore office.

He was arrested soon after he received the bribe from a liquor vendor, according to Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station.

Tipped off, an ACC team, led by Dhaka Divisional Director Nasim Anwar, raided the local DNC office on Wednesday afternoon and arrested Kabir, said Executive Magistrate Arifur Rahman, who was present in the operation.

ACC deputy director (public relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, in this connection, said the anti-graft body had set a trap to catch him.
