Health Desk—Nov 24, 2017: Lawmakers of the ruling Awami League and opposition parties on Thursday came down heavily on the health ministry in parliament for bad state of medical services in their constituencies.

They raised voices against several irregularities in health sector, like- shortages of doctors, medical equipment, ambulances and the inoperative condition of X-ray machines in the health complexes.

The issues were raised during the question-answer session with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

I came to know that the machine was old,” AL MP Motahar Hossain said.

He informed the health minister of the matter several times. But there was no headway, he added.

State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque admitted that the MP talked with him on this issue. The lawmaker was assured of a new X-ray machine.

AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal said the minister [Mohammad Nasim] and the state minister used to give assurances whenever they were apprised of sorry state of health complexes. In reality, their assurances fall apart.
