‘Stern action against doctors if found absent from duty’

Health Desk: Oct 17, 2017 -Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Monday warned the physicians of taking punitive actions if they remain absent at offices.

"It cannot be tolerated that general people will not get medicare due to absence of doctors," he told a meeting on developing standard of services at public hospitals at the Secretariat in the capital.

The minister asked the concerned to take departmental punitive measures against those who will remain absent without permission.

"If the presence of hospitals cannot be ensured, actions will also be taken against departmental director, civil surgeon and responsible hospital supervisors," he added.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, Health Services Division Secretary Md Sirajul Huq Khan, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMM) Vice-Chancellor Professor Kamrul Hasan Khan, Chittagong Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Ismail Khan, Rajshahi Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Masum Habib and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director General Professor Abul Kalam Azad were present on the occasion, among others.
