Drug trader gets life in Rajshahi

Health Desk—August 9, 2017: A court on Monday sentenced a person to life imprisonment for possessing heroin in Rajshahi.

The convict was identified as Ibrahim Ali, 30, son of Ashraf Ali of Madarpur village under Godagari  upazila of the district, according to the sources.

Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Monsur Alam found Ibrahim Ali guilty of the charges and pronounced the verdict with the convict in the dock.

The court also fined him Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that a police team arrested Ibrahim Ali with 100 grams of heroin from his locality on May 5 last year.

Later, a case was recorded with the concerned police station in this connection.

After completion of investigation, police pressed charges accusing Ibrahim Ali. Special Public Prosecutor Mozaffar Hossain conducted the case on behalf of the state while Advocate Shalah Uddin Bishwas defended the accused.
